Role Overview
The technical publications lead will take ownership of developing and delivering technical documentation in support of ZeroAvia’s propulsion development programs. The role will be centered around providing the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) manual set as well as other required product manuals and documentation to fulfil Type Certification Requirements. This function engages with design and product support from within the engineering organization to ensure delivery and continued airworthiness of ZeroAvia’s product line.
Responsibilities:
- The technical publications process for ZeroAvia and its product lines.
- Completing complex engineering research, development and certification requirements for authoring and illustrating technical publications.
- Leading the creation of manuals according to a defined process by cross-collaboration with relevant technical teams.
- Delivery and ongoing support of the required technical publication, including ICA and non-ICA documentation, necessary for product type certification.
- Coordinate with ZeroAvia supply chain personnel on the acceptance and delivery of supplier Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM).
- Definition and creation of service plans for ZeroAvia’s product line including the delivery of commercial service products such as Illustrated Part Catalogues (IPC) and Illustrated Tools and Equipment Manual (ITEM).
- Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules both internally and for external vendor’s providing technical authoring services, ensuring that scope, budget, and performance targets are being met.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining the documentation portal through which customers, regulators and ZeroAvia staff can securely access documentations and review changes.
- 5 or more years in the civil or defence aviation industry.
- Electric propulsion experience is a major plus.
- Subject Matter expert on industry specifications: ATA iSpec2200 and S1000D.
- Experience working with Common Source Databases (CSDBs).
- Familiarity with SGML/ XML.
- Familiarity of publishing ITEPs and paper-based publications.
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma Principles (Green, Black, or Master Black Belt certification a plus).
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as good written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent level of spoken and written English (additional languages a plus).
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a small team
- B.S. in Aviation, Engineering, or related field
- Mechanical aptitude with experience and knowledge of manufacture, operation, and maintenance practices for aircraft systems.
- Able to travel internationally on occasion
Physical Requirements
- Standing/Sitting: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for [50]% of the time.
- Walking: Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Lifting/Carrying: Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across campus for various needs.
- Reaching: Must be able to reach overhead and below the waist.
- Fine Motor Skills: Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Gross Motor Skills: Ability to grasp, hold, or turn large objects.
- Visual Acuity: Must be able to detect and recognize objects at a distance.
- Hearing: Must be able to communicate with colleagues and clients.
- Speaking: Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
The wage scale or salary range for this position is between $140,000 - $150,000. In addition to the foregoing base compensation, additional compensation and benefits are available to employees and eligible family members (as applicable) including the following:

🏖️ Paid Holidays: 12 observed holidays, per calendar year.
🛩️ The Fly Club: up to $2,000 of reimbursement towards flying lessons to all full-time staff
