Engineering designs our next-generation hydrogen electric engines. Working across Hydrogen, Propulsion and Integration divisions, they solve technical problems and help decarbonize aviation by finding solutions for electric propulsion, hydrogen storage, fuel cell technology, power distribution, thermal management and more.

We are looking for an experienced technical leader who will lead and manage the Power Electronics team, ensuring high-quality design and implementation of power electronics systems for hydrogen-electric propulsion.

  • Provide strategic direction for a team developing, testing, and qualifying best-in-class aerospace grade SiC power electronics
  • Oversee and own the lifecycle of the power electronics equipment from design through delivery to customers
  • Mentor and develop a team of world-class engineers fostering a culture of excellence, transparency, and trust
  • Manage multiple projects, labs, and collaborate in cross-functional teams to achieve project and company milestones
  • Act as technical lead to supply chain, customer support, and overall system design
  • Manage multiple vendors supporting component, PCBA, and equipment development

 

Experience & Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum Experience: MS in Electrical Engineering or similar + 5 years experience or BS in Electrical Engineering + 10 years experience
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership/management experience
  • Experience developing high voltage (>540Vdc) and high power (>100 kW) DC/DC, DC/AC AC/DC converters
  • Hands-on experience in prototyping circuits and converters
  • Experience implementing Silicon Carbide devices in a design
  • Experienced with DFMEA and failure analysis of power electronics equipment
  • Deep understanding of IGBT, SiC MOSFET, diode device physics
  • Experience developing and testing complex mixed-signal PCBA’s
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with DSP’s and MCU’s
  • Experience with requirements capture and traceability tools: DOORS, JAMA, or similar
  • Experience designing equipment to pass environmental test standards: DO-160G, MIL-STD-810, ISO 6750, CISPR-25 or similar
  • Familiarity with high voltage insulation standards, such as: IEC 61800-5, IEC 60664-1 or similar
  • Familiarity with system and software development standards: ARP4754, DO-178/254, ISO26262 or similar

 

Advantageous:

  • Familiarity with PM machine design
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop systems
  • Experience developing motion control algorithms
  • Experience using Ansys FEA tools (Q3D, Maxwell)
  • Experience with battery and fuel cell systems
  • Familiarity with aircraft and propulsion system regulations (14 CFR Part 33, 14 CFR Part 23)

The wage scale or salary range for this position is between $195,000 - $250,000. In addition to the foregoing base compensation, additional compensation and benefits are available to employees and eligible family members (as applicable) including the following:

🏖️ Paid Time Off: Eligible employees may accrue up to 120 hours per year (15 days) and may borrow up to 40 hours (5 days).

🩺 Sick Time: Eligible employees may accrue up to 40 hours, per year (5 days)

🏖️ Paid Holidays: 12 observed holidays, per calendar year.

🛩️ The Fly Club: up to $2,000 of reimbursement towards flying lessons to all full-time staff
