Engineering designs our next-generation hydrogen electric engines. Working across Hydrogen, Propulsion and Integration divisions, they solve technical problems and help decarbonize aviation by finding solutions for electric propulsion, hydrogen storage, fuel cell technology, power distribution, thermal management and more.

The Electric Propulsion System (EPS) Validation and Verification (V&V) engineer will support the systems team V&V efforts through EPS design, certification, and implementation.

  • Support the Systems Engineering and Tests team in the establishment of V&V processes and standards for ZeroAvia’s electric propulsion systems.
  • Assist with selection and customization of software and tools used to support V&V activities.
  • Support Safety of Flight (SOF) V&V criteria for the EPS and its subsystems.
  • Coordinate and support cross-functional activities and reporting with other teams including aircraft systems, design, PMO, hardware test, certification authorities, consultants, etc.
  • Communicate project V&V status, risks, issues, and opportunities to team and program leadership.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise on both the practical and theoretical aspects of the V&V process according to industry standards, best practices and regulatory guidelines.

Experience Required:

  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, standards, and certification processes.
  • Thorough understanding of V&V processes and the ability to develop these processes for aviation propulsion systems.
  • Experience in aviation systems engineering involving system requirements, functional decomposition and allocation, integrated design, analysis, validation, and verification.
  • Experience testing systems to comply with DO178C and DO254 development standards.
  • Familiarity with environmental testing in accordance with DO-160G.
  • Experience with system development in accordance with ARP-4754A.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as good written and oral
  • communication skills.
  • Excellent level of spoken and written English (additional languages a plus).
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a small team

Specific Skills Required:

  • Model Based Systems Engineering (Matlab/ Simulink, Capella, etc.)
  • Familiarity with requirement management software (Polarion, Doors, requiem, etc)
  • Part 33/ CS-E Propulsion System Certification Experience (Desired)

Pay Transparency Statement

The wage scale or salary range for this position is between $ 80,000 - $130,000. In addition to the foregoing base compensation, additional compensation and benefits are available to employees and eligible family members (as applicable) including the following:

  • Bonus: Annual discretionary bonuses.
  • Equity: Ability to exercise company stock options
  • Retirement: Eligible to participate in the company's 401(k) Plan, with up to a 4% matching
  • Health Insurance: Employer covers up to 80% of the employee's monthly premiums on medical, dental, and vision.
  • Life Insurance: Basic Life/AD&D of up to $50,000 and the option to add on Supplemental Coverage.
  • Short Disability: Up to 60% of your earnings for up to a period of 24 weeks.
  • Long-Term Disability: If your disability extends beyond 180 days, LTD Coverage for up to 60% of your earnings.
  • Paid Time Off: Eligible employees may accrue up to 120 hours per year (15 days) and may borrow up to 40 hours (5 days).
  • Sick Time: Eligible employees may accrue up to 40 hours, per year (5 days)
  • Paid Holidays: 12 observed holidays, per calendar year.
