Role Overview
Working closely with the Electric Propulsion team, you will work as a member of the airworthiness team, with the opportunity to contribute to the design, development, validation and verification of systems. You will gain experience in a broad range of technologies and toolsets.
You will be integrated into a dynamic and fast-paced development team, overcoming challenges and producing innovation solutions. The successful candidate is self-motivated and energetic, with a strong drive to ensure successful outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Working within the Design Organisation the Certification Engineer reports to the Head of Certification and is responsible for.
- Providing subject matter expert guidance to the wider design team in relation to certification and airworthiness
- Championing the use of design assurance processes and aiding the project and engineering teams with the implementation of these processes
- Identifying opportunities for streamlining ways of working while remaining compliant with both FAA and CAA organisational requirements, and working with the Head of the Office of Airworthiness to implement these opportunities
- Management of Airworthiness design data and configuration control
- Liaison with Engineering Design Leads, Office of Airworthiness, Production and Installation departments to ensure configuration control of design data
- Support and maintain compliance with processes and procedures within the engineering teams
- Chairing the configuration control board and enacting changes as directed
- Interfacing with various internal and external organisations as required
- Taking an active role in regulator liaison both in the US and the UK
- Acting as Certification Test Witness
- Acting as Compliance Verification Engineer within your core subject matter expertise (where independent)
Essential Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years practical experience working in an FAA certification organisation (ODA or similar), CAA/EASA Part 21J or Military Design Organisation environment
- Aeronautical Degree or equivalent experience
- Strong working knowledge of 14 CFR 21 (or Part 21J) Regulations
- Strong familiarity with FAA Order 8110.4C
- Experience working within a Design Assurance System
- Experience in Design Assurance Procedures creation and implementation
- Knowledge of working in Siemens TeamCenter or similar
- Experience in Engineering Configuration Management and Change Control
Desirable Experience/Qualifications:
- Experience with compliance demonstration for FAA Part 33 or CAA/EASA CS-E
- Previous approval as check signatory, FAA DER/DAR or Part 21J Compliance Verification Engineer
- Experience with certification of new and novel technologies would be highly desirable
The wage scale or salary range for this position is between $135,000 - $150,000. In addition to the foregoing base compensation, additional compensation and benefits are available to employees and eligible family members (as applicable) including the following:

🩺 Sick Time: Eligible employees may accrue up to 40 hours, per year (5 days)
🏖️ Paid Holidays: 12 observed holidays, per calendar year.
🛩️ The Fly Club: up to $2,000 of reimbursement towards flying lessons to all full-time staff
